I have been using this off and on and have to say the app is sweet, yet there are glaring holes in the data presented. I use Where as well, and Where - at least for central Connecticut area - seems to have more comprehensive information. For example ALOQA does not have the movie theater I go to most often (it's a main stream, first run theater, nothing goofy).

You can change your location in Aloqa - Press Menu, then select Go to (magnifying glass icon). It works well. Perhaps this feature was added after the review was written. You can also tweak how frequently Aloqa uses GPS, even to the point of turning it off.

The UI is sweet, but I think I will continue to use Where together with Aloqa. 4 stars, 5 if the data were better. (By comparison, I'd give Where 4 stars too, 5 if it's UI was better!)

This app is simply amazing O_o
Sometimes I feel like the future has started and nobody told me. The UI of Aloqa is really slick, the developers seem to really understand touch-interaction with all that swiping. Also, albeit not complete, the content they show me is fantastic and relevant, and every time I browse the list of available channels there seem to be a few more.
In short: Try it out, or miss out. Also, it's free.

First let me say, Aloqa is a great mobile application - useful and stylish.
My experience with the battery runtime are a bit different.
Running aloqa in the background almost does not suck more energy than usual.
Viewing the events and locations aloqa offers, sucks the battery in the same way like browsing the internet does (3G connections suck :).
if you turn off the gps locationing on the g1 (in cities this is sufficient enough) saves energy, too.
