Alchemy Classic is a massively addictive element-combining puzzle game for Android (now available in HD version with high quality icons). If you, like so many people, have been taken by these kind of blending games- where you start with earth, air, fire, water and combine them to create a massive variety of other elements- then this title is sure to register on your radar. Features:
For the uninitiated, you begin Alchemy Classic (and to be honest, most ‘Alchemy-style games) with just four basic elements: Air, Earth, Water and Fire. You then get to play the alchemist by combining these elements in a variety of ways. So, combine Air with Fire and you get Lightning. This new element is added to your inventory. Mix Earth with Water and you get Swamp. Then add Swamp to Lightning to get Amino Acids… and so on… There are hundred and hundreds of combinations (we have a few hundred listed here) to get with more being added regularly by the developers.
All this becomes very addictive as you build up element after element. Just to give you some statistics: Alchemy Classic has been downloaded between 1-5 million times, reviewed over 16,000 times with an average score of 4.6 in the Android Market. Comments typically are 5 stars and a clamouring for more elements to be included in the game. The Market is addicted to these games!
One thing you can do with Alchemy Classic is ‘earn’ more elements. For me this function didn’t seem to work and I received regular error messages whenever I tried. However, I think the idea is to download other free games and complete offers to unlock more elements. Sometimes these things are location sensitive and with myself residing in the UK, this might have caused me the problems.
The game is updated quite regularly and, if you support the developers with positive feedback such as via Twitter and Facebook messages, they seem to be quite generous with rewards and promotional codes.

Fun Factor:
People do swarm to these kind of games and I can see why. Progress comes with each successful combination, and each success presents a slew of new combinations to try. It can be a little tricky to maintain a methodological approach to the game, but their are smart folders which group elements together to make this easier. Lots of fun and so many combinations to discover.
Addictive:
Hugely! Truly compelling and simple gameplay. You can play for 5 minutes or 5 hours. Perfect for a bus ride or a lengthy gaming session. Scores are recorded via the game’s OpenFeint integration so the competition can get social as you take on friends.
Graphics:
The graphics are a really just a series of well drawn images. The interface is relatively smooth and easy to use. The design feels like a kind of olde-world alchemists laboratory. Very ‘Merlin’. 
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
Sounds are made when you create a new element but besides this the game is quite silent. Some might find this a bit boring, but at least you won’t get distracted!
