Features:
Airport City is the latest title from Game Insight, developers of massively popular titles such as Crime Story, My Country, Paradise Island and Rock The Vegas. The title allows you to create and run your very own airport, from sending planes to various worldwide destinations to buying new aircraft, upgrading terminals and workshops- even building and maintaining a small city in order to provide a ready supply of passengers!
I’ve played countless tycoon games and most of the Game Insight titles, but this one really is exceptional. I think, for me anyway, the real reason for this is the playability threshold. If you’ve read some of my reviews before I’ve spoken about how some tycoon games leave you awaiting more energy, money, etc. very quickly- essentially halting play unless you pay out real money for in-game credits. Airport City however get’s this perfectly right. I found that you can just about play for quite some time at any given time without running out of such resources. When the game is as rewarding as Airport City, there’s more inclination to think about investing in extra credits because you know they’ll go far- there’s nothing worse than buying extra bucks or coins to find they run out almost immediately and are not good value for money- Mobage and their otherwise very addictive Tiny Tower game is a prime example.
Airport City is incredibly engrossing and I found I lost hours playing it when it felt like minutes. There’s always lots to do- from collecting lost items to guiding in visiting planes and acquiring new planes for longer journeys. The staple of most tycoon titles are ‘levels’; meaning the more you do the more points you get, the more points the higher the level, the higher the level the more items are made available. To start with you have to do training flights and smaller, quicker and less rewarding journeys. As you progress you get to send planes all over the world to a number of exotic locations.
Because you are essentially running two enterprises here: the airport and the city, there’s always lots to do. There are enough in-game characters that pop up; flight crew, maintenance men, builders, etc. who provide you with various tasks and missions to complete; from upgrading buildings and planes to creating shops for passengers, to make the game is very playable and consistently fun.

Fun Factor:
For the number of tycoon titles I’ve played, you might forgive me for feeling a little apathetic towards the genre, but I found Airport City extremely consuming and lots of fun. It never seems to become repetitive, it’s easy to play and the rich combination of gameplay, sound effects and graphics make for a thoroughly satisfying gaming experience.
Addictive:
I think if you’re into tycoon games you sort of know what to expect, such titles are usually deeply addictive and bring out the compulsion in most fans of the genre. I did find this extremely difficult to put down, so it scores very highly on addictive factor.
Graphics:
For its genre the graphics are top notch. The visuals will be quite familiar for players who have played Game Insight titles before and they should expect high quality and detailed animations, polished and interactive UI plus superbly rendered gaming environments. The game menu’s (of which there are quite a few) are also very smooth and finish off a resolutely beautiful game.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The sound is ideal for this kind of game. Not only are there realistic airport sounds effects but the music is also very good, dare I even say it- catchy. So often the music becomes instantly irritable in games like this- making you cut the sound almost immediately to avoid an annoyingly looped musical horror show. Not so however with Airport City, the sounds and music just work perfectly with the game.
