Absolute Software’s Computrace Mobile for Android will be available beginning in May. The platform is aimed at corporate entities who want to use the Android platform, but still have a certain level of security in both the data/software as well as the hardware. Services include the ability to see into a corporate device, as well as track a missing piece of hardware.
“Today’s organizations are challenged with managing multiple devices across multiple platforms. With the constant threat of sensitive data being compromised, IT departments require a solution that provides them with complete visibility into all of their devices, regardless of whether they are on or off the network,” said Stephen Midgley, vice president, global marketing, Absolute Software. “As IT departments add ultra-portable devices such as smart phones, tablets and Netbooks into their deployment, they need to implement a layered approach to security that allows them to locate these devices and remotely secure them in the event of suspicious activity. Computrace Mobile delivers all of these capabilities.”
Computrace Mobile is supported on a wide range of platforms in addition to Android 1.5 and later – Blackberry Mobile versions 4.5 and later; Symbian S60 Third Edition and later; Windows Mobile 5, 6, 6.1, 6.2, and 6.5; Windows 7; Windows Vista; Windows XP; Windows 2000; Windows Server 2008; and Windows Server 2003. There is also a separate product for Apple iOS products.
