Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Awesome 3D graphics!
- Immersive worlds to explore, find power-ups, dodge traps, and combat in!
- Many spells and potions to collect!
Cons
- Control system is really poor, can even be disorienting for some.
- Melee can become a bit too challenging especially when facing multiple foes.
- Has potential, however, missing some fundamental gaming mechanics.
Features:
Everland is an RPG action adventure game where you must explore a medieval world, outwit traps, collect potions in order to level-up and power-up, and battle all kinds of creatures on your quest. The graphics in the game are awesome, clues are clever at times (such as flipping levers to unlock rooms far away), traps are dangerously cunning, enemies are tough, persistent and relentless (those sentries will chase you down!)
In order to level up you need to gain experience, which is gained when you kill enemies or find a treasure chest. Once you level up, touching the character avatar which reveals a menu to apply those earned points to Physics and Magic- i.e. increase your strength and defense or pyromancy and necromancy. Within the game you collect spells you can use such as fireball, holy strike, teleportation, healing, shields, magma strike, tornadoes, and much more. Use these as needed because they come at a cost. For example using the basic fireball costs 6 Mana points (blue bar under character stats) but does 50 points of enemy damage.

Everland HUD Explanation
The above screenshot shows gives a brief explanation of the options available on the HUD. From top-left going clockwise you have the character avatar (tap it to manage experience points), health, mana, map of the world, book of spells, options menu, use spells, attack, use shield, list of current and active spells and two buttons to dodge and strike. The left portion of the screen controls directional movement while the right controls the camera angle 360 degrees. As you attack relentlessly you may notice hit combos, however, I’ve not found an extra benefit to this except you are on your way to defeating that enemy.
Everland has potential, however, missing some fundamental gaming mechanics.
The control system is really poor, can even be disorienting for some. When our reviewer Toni took a crack at this game- the movement was so unstable and moved about so much it caused slight motion illness. I found a slight fix by going in the Options menu and turn sensitivity to the max, however, the 360 degree camera issue is still quite disorienting. Combine that with the fact you sometimes mistakenly change the camera angle during battle when trying to attack.
Melee can become a bit too challenging especially when facing multiple foes. It’s been times where I would get surrounded by up to four different enemies, and the control system makes it difficult to run and fight.
I’ve found no way to replenish health, such as finding a power-up item nor does time slowly replenish it as you see in most other adventure games. It seems you are expected to last so much challenging combat on the same health meter. You get 5 continues if you perish in the game, once those are depleted you have to start all the way back at your nearest checkpoint. I understand the need to have a challenging game, but some of the aspects of Everland need more fine tuning.

Fun Factor:
Once you get the hang of it, Everland can be fun and adventurous to play. It’s rewarding to figure out how to avoid traps and especially defeating foes while taking minimal damage.
Addictive:
The game in its current state deters some of the addictive value because it can be difficult to play; controls, difficult enemies, and progress saving.
Graphics:
Please note the game requires an additional 99MB download. However once you feast on some of the graphics, epic worlds and particle effects- you’ll see why the extra download is necessary.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
Everland has an epic soundtrack looping while you play which suits the genre of the game.
