3D Flick Field Goal Install

3D Flick Field Goal is a flick-to-kick American Football game with bright graphics, stadium sound effects and fun gameplay. You take the role of kicker in this fun sports simulator. Simply flick your finger over the ball, carefully aiming towards the goal posts, to launch a winning kick. You have to sometimes adjust your aim to accommodate for the wind direction but the game is both simple and fun.

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • Good graphics!
  • Simple gameplay!

Cons

  • Sound effects are pretty poor.
  • Limited modes of play.
  • Basic UI.
  • No OpenFeint support.

Features:

3D Flick Field Goal is an American Football game where you have to kick a ball between the goal posts. You can choose between Sudden Death and Time Attack modes. With Sudden Death you build your score upwards with each successful kick, miss and you start from the beginning and the game goes on for as long as you want it to. In Time Attack you have 1 minute to score as many points as you can in that time.

‘Kicking’ is quite straight forward as you simply have to flick your finger over the ball. This is mostly accurate but I found the wind direction to be very unresponsive; sometimes the wind veers the ball in the right direction sometimes it doesn’t. This makes for a rather frustrating experience. There is no taking away from the fact, however, that scoring a goal is pretty rewarding, even if the firework graphic which says “GREAT” looks poor.

In both modes your scores are saved for the next time, and, if they are good they will show up on the global leaderboard, called ‘Game Centre’. The leaderboard just seems to be a more basic version of OpenFeint which is sadly missing from the game. 3D Flick Field Goal seems to ultimately want you to download another game called ‘Dragon Rush’ because nearly every screen has an advert for it; whether it be the menu, the end of game screen, the game centre or anything else, you are regularly poked to download it. I found this a bit weird to be honest, and felt spammy and intrusive.

The game features a series of sound effects; a cheer when you score, a kind of boo when you miss and this trumpety parp when you begin a game. Sadly the sounds are badly recorded and tinny to listen to- I found myself turning the sound down immediately.

Fun Factor:

Scoring a goal is good fun, as is accumulating a nice high score. Besides this however the game lacks much depth and quickly becomes repetitive, and always with the little dragon icon constantly advertising links to Dragon Rush.

Addictive:

While scoring goals is rewarding, the novelty wears off very quickly. The game features world wide leader boards, etc. but these are drastically inferior to OpenFeint and again prove to be another platform for advertising the dragon game. Gameplay is simplistic yet there is little to draw you back into the game regularly.

Graphics:

The graphics are probably the highlight of the game and look pretty good. You get quite cool 3D perspectives of your kick as it sails through the goal posts. The peripheral graphics, such as fireworks, UI and menus are pretty basic to be honest and badly themed.

Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:

Sound is very poor and has a ‘tinny’ or ‘underwater’ feel to it. The timing is also very odd and cheers cut out randomly and sound terrible.

Should you Download 3D Flick Field Goal? The underlying wider problem with 3D Flick Field Goal is that its just no where near as good as similar games in the Android Market. Most notably is Pik Pok’s Flick Kick Field Goal which offers better gameplay, better sound, better options, OpenFeint support and even better graphics. On this basis I cannot recommend you download 3D Flick Field Goal unless you have tried the Pik Pok’s offering and just need a different, albeit inferior, experience.
