Defend various locations against the onslaught of zombie-type ex-people with a progressively powerful arsenal of weapons. The visuals are great and the sound is possibly the best of its kind in the Android Market. If you’re looking for a new tower defense addiction, this is it.

Sentinel: Homeworld $2.99 Sentinel 3: Homeworld is a jaw-droppingly visceral gaming experience on Android. It’s firmly in the tower defense genre but the mesmerising graphics are dense gameplay make it a truly exceptional title. The latest in the Sentinel series, the game was part of the Android 10 Billion download sale. If you’re a fan of tower defense, Sentinel 3: Homeworld might be the most vivid and stunning you’ll have seen.

Any.DO Free Any.DO is a cool multi-platform GTD (get things done) to-do list manager that is quite simply awesome. I am a massive fan of productivity apps and have tried plenty of them on Android. GTD apps on Android go from the brilliantly detailed project management-style tools such as Due Today to the infinitely simple Do It (Tomorrow). While I have found myself loving both of these and finding each superb in their own way, I always felt one was a little too complex for my level of use and one way a bit too simple. Step forward Any.DO…

Build new levels, start businesses, keep your tenants happy and build as high as you can get! The graphics are incredibly basic but the game literally oozes charm and compulsive playability. I’m completely addicted to this gem of a game, so read on and let me give you some details.

Carnival of Horrors Free, In-Game Purchases Carnival of Horrors is a typical tower defence game, very akin to the likes of Plants Vs Zombies and Pumpkins Vs Monsters. You create a set of towers in order to thwart the oncoming baddies. These baddies start with fluffy ghosts and quickly level-up to evil clowns, scary bears and all kinds of other side-show freaks. Simple-yet-challenging gameplay is complimented by an eerie soundtrack and massive replay-ability. It’s a game that should be in every ‘Halloween Games’ list from this day forward.

Astral Plague $1.99 Astral Plague is a pulsating and frenetic space shooter game. The game, probably familiar in gameplay to fans of retro-classics such as ‘Asteroid’, is a top-down 2D shooting bonanza as you have to fend off wave after wave of aggressive enemies. This is no gentle ride through the solar system either; it’s full-on, unremitting, intense and insanely action packed. There’s also an element of tower defense squeezed in which adds new kinds of gameplay to the mix. Cool, fun and in many ways brilliant, Astral Plague is as remorseless as it is fun.

Spectrum ICS Pro LWP Free, ~$1.19 Spectrum ICS Pro LWP is the ultimate live wallpaper for people trying to give their devices a fresh Ice Cream Sandwich theme. The app gives you plenty of cool customizations so not only can you make your wallpaper look unique, you really do have complete control over the look and feel of every aspect. In a nutshell, I was looking for a really smart LWP that had that colorful, stripy ICS effect and this was just by far the best option.

Maxthon Browser Free Maxthon Browser is a speedy, customizable and fully-featured browser for Android and beyond. The app hosts a number of interesting and fun features that you would perhaps expect to see on a full PC browser such as; themes, sync to cloud, RSS reader widget, add-ons and tabs. Importantly, it just happens to be pretty fast too!

Either choose from a wide selection of pictures to color in or start with a blank canvas to create your own pictures. There’s a good palette to choose from and a range of colors. Ideal app for bringing out your child’s artistic side, the app was recently available for 10c as part of the Android 10BN download sale. Now back to it’s usual price of ~$0.99, it’s still a great option for amusing little ones.

In a nutshell, the app lets you control basic phone functions with the hardware buttons; i.e. volume control rocker. This is therefore ideal if you are wearing gloves and need to answer a call quickly.

Dabble $1.00 Dabble is a superb word game based on the award winning board pursuit. The game is both simple to understand and incredibly challenging. The graphics and sound work perfectly with gameplay, creating a fun and interesting word game for Android devices.

CardSharing Free CardSharing is the undoubtedly 21st century way of swapping contact information. Replacing the notion of having old-school cardboard business cards, the app instead allows you to create your own card in-app and then share it in different ways. Perhaps the coolest is the way it can create a quick QR code that your contact can barcode-scan for immediate information download. Very cool.

Zombies… OMG! Free, with In-app Purchase Zombies… OMG! is a cool blend of both tycoon and RPG game. The game boasts impressive graphics, a fun storyline, loads of missions, lots of weapons and things to collect and an adorable set of characters to interact with. Beneath the exterior there is, however, a strong element to invest in the game via in-app purchases. The game is free to play, but there is an abundance of presented opportunities to use real-world money to progress.

Karoshi Free via GetJar, $1.00 in Android Market Karoshi is an old-school puzzle game with a very sinister twist. The aim of the game here is get Mr Karosh killed. Having had enough of his job and his life Mr Karoshi now faces a series of levels in which he gets to kill himself. You have to help him as he navigates all manner of obstacles and logic puzzles. The sound and graphics are incredibly retro, but the level design pulsates with ingenuity.

Learn Irish Premium is a functional and fun language application that lets you gradually learn some basic words and phrases in Irish Gaelic. It’s extremely easy to use, with playable audio files to help you understand how a word or phrase is pronounced, and there are both spellings and phonetic spellings to help with comprehension. Tiny Village Free, In-app Purchases Tiny Village is a cute little tycoon/building game that puts you in control of creating your own pre-historic village! The gameplay is varied and, while the game includes the ability to increase your funds via real-world money, it doesn’t hinder the game to the point that similar titles do. The graphics and sound are rather adorable and the game seems to have a sort of Flintstones theme that is relatively new in this genre. Definitely worth a look if you like tycoon-style games, but don’t expect historical accuracy!!

Looks incredible, sounds incredible so definitely worth a look…

It lets you create beautifully intricate and colorful circles that rotate on your screen behind your apps, shortcuts and widgets. For Android users who like brilliant live wallpapers, this is something you really should take a look at.

Wind-Up Knight Free, In-Game Purchases Wind-Up Knight is a 3D scrolling platform game for Android. Boasting lush graphics, challenging gameplay and various items to buy and accumulate in-game to make your quest possible, it’s a superb game and loads of fun. There is a rather steep learning curve as you progress through the game but it’s very immersive and hugely enjoyable.

It perhaps shouldn’t work, but it really does! From the same developers as Farm Frenzy and Yumsters, Musaic Box is a unique experience that’s definitely worth a look.

Very similar in feel to popular Android and online games like Chuzzle, Birzzle is a fantastically challenging and fun game for all ages.
