1Weather is a beautifully presented weather forecast application for Android. Featuring a slick interactive user interface, a cool widget, eight pages of information and gorgeous animations; 1Weather is quickly becoming one of the most popular weather apps available. Currently one of the featured apps in the Google Play Store, and free, it’s definitely worth a look.

Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Great user interface!
- Polished animations and graphics!
- Lots of useful information!
- Original and neat-looking widget!
- Includes various backgrounds for customisation!
Cons
- No radar shots outside the U.S.
- Unable to use your own images for background.
- Tweet locations could be confused: I’m in Peterborough in the U.K., whereas many tweets were for Peterborough in Canada.
Features:
1Weather is an innovative weather app that has recently turned my head. Not only is the design something really quite awe-inspiring, it’s also packed to the rafters with useful weather information. Opening the application is not unlike opening a whole new launcher. You actually have eight screens which you sweep across homescreen-style and each page presents different info. Page one is a summary of today’s weather. Page two is a concise seven day forecast. Page three displays any severe weather warnings that might be in your area. Page four is a forecast of precipitation over the next seven days. Page five is a radar shot of your area (if you’re in the US, an apology if not). Page six features the sunrise/sunset times in addition to the lunar phases while page seven is compiled of recent weather-related tweets for your area. Finally page eight is a gallery of weather-related photography.
Most of these pages features a clever little animations which display the information really well. The background is a really nice wood panel image but there are several other background styles you can choose from. I felt it was a shame you couldn’t use your own images but this aside I though this was a nice customisation feature. In the top right of each screen there is a small tab which lets you change the location you are viewing. If perhaps you have family, friends or colleagues in different parts of the country or world, you can see what their weather forecast is too if you want to.
The app comes with a circular 2×2 widget which really looks great on your homescreen. This displays the date, location, chance of rain, as well as high and low temperature. There is also an appropriate weather symbol in the centre of the widget. There are perhaps all the typical settings you might expect: weather units, refresh interval, layout and the option to have notifications in your status bar for weather warnings and temperature.
Overall the application has an incredibly polished yet friendly vibe which I immediately loved. I’ve been a huge advocate of BeWeather for some time now but, while quite the same visual representations of weather are lacking in 1Weather, the general slickness and polish really impressed me. It’s a free app but it comes with banner ads which can be removed via an in-app purchase of about $2. I have to admit I didn’t even blink at the price, 1Weather looks superb and has plenty of information and options available. Definitely check it out.
Check out how we compared this weather app to another one of our favorites, BeWeather… see which app takes the showdown!

Usefulness:
1Weather is great for weather forecasts and provides a gorgeous user interface through which to view. The widget looks great too and will have pride of place on your homescreens. I’m just looking for a really cool analogue clock now to compliment it.
Ease of Use:
If you’re familiar with changing screens on your Android by sweeping left and right, you’ll find this massively easy to use. Simply enter a location and the app quickly identifies and presents the weather.
Frequently Used:
Since downloading this a few days ago I have used it very regularly. Certainly on a daily basis, but as the animations are so cool I like to check them out more frequently!
Interface:
The interface is one of the highlights. I like apps to look and feel great. An app might be full of good functionality but if it looks rubbish I’m just not going to use it. 1Weather looks awesome and the interface is both intuitive and smooth.
