Some Android apps & games were highly anticipated and even over-hyped this year but we all still wanted to devour them. Well… we’re rounding up those apps for you to download (if you don’t already have them), plus you can click on the icons to read our in-depth reviews to learn more about each!
Keep up with all our best apps list!
Instagram
Free
Instagram is a neat little photo-sharing app for… wait, who am I kidding? You know what it is. You know what it does. You’re probably one of the 1 million or more people that downloaded it in the first 24 hours of its release. You’ve probably signed up and have gotten stuck in already. I think the only questions left is, are you the Android user that’s literally blown away by the new app? Or, are you a user who is altogether less-impressed? Well, here’s our review of this massively popular app…
Angry Birds Star Wars
Free
Angry Birds Star Wars is where two fantastic universes collide. On the one hand you have the Angry Birds- determined as ever to do-battle with the evil piggies (who we recently saw garner their own adventure in Bad Piggies). On the other you have Star Wars; the Force, light-sabers, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker- a guy who nearly went to a very bad place with his own sister. Despite being a little disillusioned with the ongoing Angry Birds series in general, I downloaded it immediately. It must have been the Force…
Snapseed
Free
Snapseed is the popular new photo editing app from Nik Software Inc. The application is quite fashionable at the moment for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it was hugely popular on iOS and, if the initial popularity of Instagram and Temple Run are anything to go by, Android users like to snap up apps that have also been popular on Apple’s ecosystem. Secondly, Snapseed was recently purchased by Google and this app was soon released. However, one area where the Google Play Store is heaving with options is photo editing, so how good is Snapseed?
Rayman Jungle Run
$2.99
Rayman, a classic gaming hero if ever there was one, has found his way to Android in this new adventure- Rayman Jungle Run. Guide Rayman through level after level of challenging jungle environment, develop new skills, unlock backgrounds and just keep running! Everything about this game drips in quality- from the graphics, the music and the massively addictive gameplay that makes it impossible to put down. If you enjoy platform games this is an absolute must-have.
Temple Run
Free, Optional In-app Purchases
Temple Run is the much anticipated game which has recently made the leap onto the Android platform after being more popular than oxygen on iOS. You take the role of Guy Dangerous who, after stealing a cursed idol, now has to escape the Evil Demon Monkeys. You must have been living in a cave (or remote jungle temple) if you haven’t heard of this addictive arcade-style game. I downloaded it pretty much within a few minutes of it hitting the Google Play Store, and here’s what I think after some relentless playing… Price: Free, with the option of in-app purchases
SHADOWGUN: DeadZone

Shadowgun: DeadZone is one of the sharpest-looking shooters we’ve seen.? ? SlideToPlay ?They?ve made what could be the best multiplayer shooting experience on a mobile device.? ? TouchGen ?If you wan
Max Payne
$2.99
Max Payne finally launches for Android and you can find it in the Google Play store for $2.99! If you’re a fan of the console game you will be in for a treat with the mobile version, in particular if you have a Tegra 3 quad-core device, as the developer explains you get “additional antistrophic texture filtering and enhanced lighting effects”. Of course it has Max Payne’s signature slow motion gunplay called Bullet Time. The biggest caveat is that it needs a whopping 1.3 GB of additional game storage, so hop on a Wi-Fi connection to download it.
Chrome
Free
Chrome for Android is the official Chrome browser designed for Android. Boasting ‘Speed’, ‘Simplicity’ and ‘Signing In’ as its key features the app aims to replicate the smooth experience Chrome users get on their home computers. While there isn’t much surprise that Chrome for Android has been released, it has perhaps raised more eyebrows in the fact it has taken so long to launch. So, is Chrome for Android actually worth the wait? How does it compare to the native Android browser? And how does it match up to the likes of Dolphin HD and Firefox?
Bad Piggies
Free
The Bad Piggies are after the eggs again — but as usual, nothing is going according to plan! Can you create the ultimate flying machine and steer them safely to their destination? Those tricky pigs have a few objects they can use, but they need your help to turn these into the perfect transportation!
