101-in-1 Games, All in One Games with Enough Excitement for Everyone
Jun 6, 2011 11:03 AM –
101-in-1 Games is pretty self-explanatory, this one game contains a colossal 101 games to try out. The idea behind this is that you have a limited set of games, and once you compete through them and earn points, you can unlock the others. The games vary greatly from simple hockey games to tricky mind-bending logic puzzles, so there is something for everyone in here. The game has been vastly popular already in the Android market, as well as on the iPhone.
Tested on: HTC Desire HD
Pros & Cons:
- Huge variety of games available in one app- racing, puzzle, logic and action games to highlight a few.
- Bright colourful graphics.
- Easy to pick up and play.
- Addictive if you want to unlock all the games and beat your previous scores.
- There’s a real variety in challenges too. Some games are really easy to complete, some take a lot more tenacity to beat.
- This game is a jack-of-all-trades yet master of none. The games are very simple, and perhaps there is not enough depth there for some people.
- Due to its scope, the graphics, while OK, are pretty basic. This might put many people off in a period where we have a choice of 3D games available on the Android Market.
Each game you play requires you to achieve a certain score to complete. Variety is the name of the game here and as you progress you will find yourself playing all manner of cool little mini-games and puzzles. The joy of the game is that you don’t know what you are going to be playing next. Some games are very easy to achieve the required score in, others are fiendishly tricky and require a lot of patience and strategy to beat the game.
There are simple cooking games, racing games and logic puzzles- games that test your timing, patience, skill and attention to detail. There is such a volume of mini-games in this one game that it’s difficult to overcome everything, but there is more than enough here to interest most users.
The games are usually quite easy to understand, but there is a little guide on each game/level which instructs you as to what you are meant to do. Most of these are easy enough to understand, but others take a few goes to get the hang of it.
Because the game itself is essentially a breakdown of 101 mini titles, it is easy to play for casual gamers, each game usually only lasts a few minutes so it suits people who want to immerse themselves in completing the game and those who just want some mindless distraction on the bus.
As there is so much under the hood of this game (and a 18MB download!), it does a lot of things but none of them fantastically. Individual games in the Marketplace will perform better; graphics, depth, content, et.c whereas the games in 101-in-1 Games are simplistic. If you can accept this you can get a lot of fun out of the game, but if you insist on supersonic 3D beauty then this game might leave you a little disappointed.
You earn points as you progress, but you can buy points directly though the, increasingly common, model of downloading other apps and signing up to other services. I think most Android gamers are probably aware of this marketing solution by now. I’m unsure if it’s perfect but it beats large in-game adverts that block cohesive gameplay.

I felt the game was a lot of fun. There is a real challenge in getting through the games/levels and you never know what game you will face next. There is such a breadth of games here there will probably be something fun for everyone.
It certainly has the re-playability effect; once you have unlocked all the games you might want to improve your scores. Some games are more addictive than others, but I’m sure you can find something that brings out the competitive animal in you.
The graphics are pretty average, but this is surely down to the sheer volume of mini-games contained with the game. They are all very similar in color- primary, bright and with relatively low resolution.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The sound is generally good and suitable for the game you are playing, without being mind-blowing. You have generic music for the menu screens and similar ditties for most games. The sound isn’t anything to write home about but it’s ok.

Should you Download 101-in-1 Games? This game does everything ‘OK’. The gameplay, the graphics, the sound, the menus, the guidance etc, everything works fine without overly impressing you. What is impressive however is the volume of mini-games contained in here. With this in mind, I strongly recommend you give the game a try, I’m pretty certain there will be a few little challenges here that you will enjoy. Do not get your hopes up if you prefer dazzling graphics to the vast array of content, the game packs a relatively weak punch in terms of looks. However, if you get stuck into this game, and give it some time, you might find as I did there’s a lot of fun to be had.
